Walking Pleasant Valley — Elmhurst to Edemar Now known as “The House of Friendship,” Elmhurst was built by Samuel S. Bloch on the stretch of National Road at the heart of “Silk Stocking Row.” Bloch and his brother Aaron were the manufacturers of Bloch Brothers stogies and cigars, and the first to manufacture scrap chewing tobacco in pouch-like bags, now famously known as Mail Pouch Tobacco. |
