Funded by the Wheeling National Heritage Area Corporation, Wheeling:
A Brief History
narrates this West Virginia city’s rise from frontier outpost to wealthy industrial center and illustrates how indigenous culture, European colonialism, the Industrial Revolution, slavery, organized labor, and mass immigration all shaped the identity of West Virginia’s “only experiment in urban living.” Author George Fetherling has published more than 50 books: fiction, poetry, history, travel, biography, and cultural commentary.

Priced at $20.00, the book can be purchased at the Wheeling Artisan Center, and by mail order. A portion of the proceeds is donated to Friends of Wheeling, a local historic preservation organization. Send us email for more information.
